Dr. Marshall S Flam was born and raised in the Bronx, New York. He earned a life sciences degree from MIT and a medical degree from the State University of New York Downstate. He practiced and taught Hematology and Oncology in Fresno, California, for 40 years and retired from his practice in 2014. He is the father of five accomplished daughters and grandfather to eleven grandchildren. He enjoys tennis, skiing, singing with a local opera group, gourmet cooking, mixology, and traveling. He divides his time between Fresno, California, and Sun Valley, Idaho. Dr. Flam, a lifelong lover of limericks, reinvented them through Wordle, transforming them into a creative and educational tool.
In this radio interview with Kate Delaney on her syndicated radio program “America Tonight with Kate Delaney,” she and Dr. Flam, talked about his brilliant written work with the title Wordle Limericks: Flamericks. Each limerick is crafted to amuse and inform, with footnotes explaining the more esoteric or educational ones.
This collection, which contains only a small number of traditional obscene limericks, embraces a motto of “Laugh & Learn.” Tables categorize limericks into 33 subjects, allowing readers to find limericks covering topics of interest to them easily. An introductory section covers the history of limericks and Wordle. With 2,309 Wordle five-letter final solution words, eight volumes are planned for this ongoing exploration.
During the interview, it was evident that both Dr. Flam and Kate Delaney had a genuinely good time together. The author was happily willing to share the brilliance of his mind not only with Kate Delaney but the viewers as well! What makes Dr. Flam such a lovable character is that despite having had a long career in the field of medicine, he still finds the time to do the thing that he loves to do: write limericks.

“I use the Wordle word of the day to create limericks that are humorous,” said Dr. Flam, “so that people would laugh, but that were also educational, so that people who read them would learn something while laughing. So I started doing this for about three months and every morning I would recite the limericks to my wife who tired of hearing them, and said, “Go publish them!”” This statement demonstrates how truly passionate Dr. Flam is about what he does best: the art of writing limericks.
