Philip Wittig presents a comparative study of two great nations and the fate they are about to share in his latest book Apostasy Can Lead a Nation to Self-Destruct.

The story of Ancient Israel is one of the remarkable sagas in the Holy Bible. It follows the story of a people whose journey into nationhood was revealed by God to Abraham. In the bible, we learn about their journey to Egypt following a famine. The 12 sons of Jacob became the 12 tribes of Israel that would later be enslaved by a new pharaoh. God would later deliver them from bondage and help the Israelites build a nation of their own. However, their covenant with God would soon end. King Solomon turned away from God and worshipped the false gods. This apostasy led to the division and eventual destruction of Israel. In 2017, Philip Wittig published the book Apostasy Can Lead a Nation to Self-Destruct: Will America Mend Its Ways and Return to God? Philip Witting believes that unless America will repent and return to God, it could suffer the same doom that happened to ancient Israel.

A Tale of Two Great Nations

Philip Wittig’s Apostasy Can Lead a Nation to Self-Destruct: Will America Mend Its Ways and Return to God? is a religious book that aims to educate readers about the social issues that currently haunt America and the possible fate that awaits the country and its people. Wittig draws a lesson from a powerful ancient nation, its rise, and destruction due to the apostasy of its people. Philip Wittig’s extensive knowledge and understanding of the Bible led him to focus on the ancient kingdom of Israel and how the nation and the United States are similar in several ways. In his book, Wittig discusses God’s relationship with the people of Israel. God revealed to Abraham that a great nation will rise, but its people will first be enslaved in a foreign land and will have to journey across the desert. Throughout many generations, God almighty was always with them, delivered them from slavery, guided them, and help them build a monarchy. But during the time of King Solomon, God finally decided to abandon his chosen people. Despite giving King Solomon wealth and wisdom, the king still chose to abandon God’s ways and worshipped the pagan gods and idols of the land.

This supposed “historical amnesia” resulted in apostasy or abandonment of their belief in God, resulting in God finally giving up on His people. According to Witting, the same is happening with America today. The country is in deep spiritual crisis and God is slowly abandoning America. The September 11 attack is a reminder that America is no longer under God’s good graces. Instead, the military, government, and church leaders are ignoring the signs. Instead, the government is obsessed with national security and military spending. Political correctness and policing the world has become America’s priority rather than honoring God and returning to a more moral and humane path. Wittig’s book hopes to educate readers by reminding them that the same fate could happen to America if the people fail to see the need to repent and renew their faith to God. More importantly, Philip Wittig hopes to inspire people to respond to social issues that are hurting America and its people.
