Stress is a common condition experienced by many people, particularly when life gets busy and things seem to move too quickly. If addressed, it can lead to health issues. However, there are ways to manage stress better. One way is to confront the causes of stress or try meditation gently. Meditation is a powerful tool for reducing stress, but it requires practice to master. The good news is that many techniques are available to help soothe your mind and get back on track. For example, Cynthia Chase’s From Stressed to Blessed: 5 Simple Steps to Learn Meditation and Change Your Life is a guidebook that provides valuable insights for people seeking to find peace from stress.
Cynthia’s book offers readers ideas on the optimal places to meditate, proper sitting positions, breathing techniques, starting and ending the meditation, and returning to the present moment once it’s over. In her one-on-one radio interview with Kate Delaney on America Tonight, Cynthia talks about her book and the power of meditation.
The Path to a Clear Mind
It wasn’t all heart and flowers for Cynthia before she found the path to a clearer mind. A few years back, she was going through a divorce. She had four young children, and I was in graduate school in Southern California, which was quite a flight away from her. Overwhelmed, a friend suggested meditation to her.
Cynthia narrowed down what she learned into five simple steps and wrote about them in her book.
“I wanted to tell in the book the five steps for meditation. I don’t tell the why, just the how, because the why will come about as you meditate. I’ve been meditating over, well, about 30 years now, and you just find that you learn along the way. You learn new things about yourself and about the world around you,” Cynthia shared.
In addition to the practical steps for meditation, From Stressed to Blessed also explores the history of meditation and how it has been used in rituals both in the past and present.
A Guide to Living
Author Cynthia Chase started writing about meditation until the beginning of COVID-19 when she saw all around her the worries that people had. She wanted to help others just as how meditation helped her. She hopes that her book will help people live by growing spiritually.
“It helps you to grow yourself spiritually, which always is an added benefit when it comes to facing challenges and just living your life,” Cynthia said.
Cynthia wrote her book to accommodate younger readers. She also hopes her book will significantly help teachers and everyone working a demanding job.
“I wrote the book in a very simple language, and that was so people from the age of about 11, 12 all the way up and read it and get the message for them.”
“As a matter of fact, teachers were beginning to use meditation in the classroom. I think most of them don’t name it that. But when the class is in chaos and nobody’s listening, they’ll get their attention and ask them to just sit quietly and begin to breathe. And then they might suggest a couple of things and then, uh, bring them up and back into the classroom. So I think that is it started as an organic movement, and now it’s gotten to be very popular. And I love that,” Cynthia added.
A Greater Sense of Awareness
When it comes to stress relief through meditation, the number of options available can be overwhelming. Where should you start? Cynthia suggests practicing breathing properly, which helps people stay focused.
Despite the uncertainty in today’s world, Cynthia believes anyone can live life with minimal stress by meditating. With her book as a practical guide, her utmost desire is for people to build a greater sense of awareness by practicing its suggested steps. She also highlights the relevance of staying calm amid upsetting situations and learning to look at life better.
“I think that’s the one of the greatest lessons for me from meditation is, I looked and look at the world in a different perspective than I did before I started,” Cynthia said.
