Many of us have forgotten how to be servants of God and share our love for God daily.

When we connect with Christ, we are all vessels of some kind. Actually, we were all originally made of wood or ceramics. If we wish to be God’s servant and have a good relationship with Him, we must also learn how to live a God-centered life. Thomas Fitzhugh Sheets shares his insight regarding this subject in his book, on that Day: A Trilogy.

But how do we specifically become successful servants of God? We’ve got some helpful steps here that you can follow.

1. Develop the Mentality of a Servant and the Characteristics of a Servant of God

The first step to becoming a productive servant is this. You must acknowledge that God is in control and adopt a mindset that says, “My mission on this planet is to serve God.”

You have to acknowledge your place in the world. It is necessary for you to shift from thinking about “Me” to thinking about “Him.” It is not you who revolves around this universe.

It’s not about you in the world or anything that occurs. It is not the other way around; you live to serve God and should have a servant attitude reflected in your thought process.

2. How to Serve God Daily: Be Determined to Serve in His Name

Having a servant mentality alone is insufficient; you also need to be driven to serve and lend a hand. The churches in Macedonia were incredibly determined to assist. Nothing would prevent these congregations from providing assistance, not the hardship they were going through, or the poverty people were living in. They were resolved to assist.

Also, there are three kinds of givers out there:

• Givers who give merely out of capacity are the first kind. They contribute from their abundance because they have it.

• Individuals who are capable of providing but choose not to do so are the second kind of givers. They don’t provide even when they have enough to give for whatever reason. Maybe it’s because they haven’t gone as far as a servant would. Instead of being centered around “Christ,” they are still “Me” oriented.

• The third category of donors, however, consists of individuals who contribute while having very little. They make selfless gifts.

You must get a resolve to help others if you wish to be a fruitful servant of God. Spend some time with others. Give your energies away. Offer what you have. Give from the heart. As the Bible states, “God loves a cheerful giver,” be determined to lend a hand.

3. Discover the Servant of God Meaning by Committing to Follow Him

We all obey someone or something. A few of us take friends’ advice to heart. People pay attention to what the so-called “experts” have to say. A few of us adhere to familial traditions. Or maybe we just go along with what the social norm says. But we all follow a certain path.

To truly learn how to be servants of God, we must fully commit to following Him. Let’s take Thomas Fitzhugh Sheets and his book, on that Day: A Trilogy, as an example. Thomas has been a follower of God for a long time, and his book is his way of further serving Him and spreading the good news to everybody.

What does following God entail? Let me explain what it means to follow God. Follow and live by His words. Folks, if you do not do as He commands, you will never be an effective servant of God. The Bible informs us in James 1:22 (HCSB), “Be doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.”

If we cannot follow God’s words, then not even the steps to become a successful servant of God that we have listed here can help.

We Must Always Keep in Mind How to Be Servants of God

Wherever they are, successful servants serve. It’s not necessary to travel halfway across the globe to locate those in need. You only need to turn to face the one standing next to you.

Adopt a servant leadership mindset. Be adamant about serving. Make a commitment to obeying God’s instructions. And begin serving right now, wherever you are.
