Family is also the first ground of training for children to be exposed to several skills they can use in the future. Cognitive skills, conversational skills, motor skills, emotional skills, basic hygiene, and reasoning skills are among the first sets of skills children learn from their families. Impacts of family in acquiring these make the learning process faster. Like values, skills are also first learned with family bonding. The parents are a child’s first teachers.

Learning Values

Values is first learned by a child at home. Children absorb everything they observe in their environment, which includes the understanding of what’s good and bad. So, when you are around a child, you always have to be careful of your actions and words as children can pick them up easily and apply them whenever they have the chance to.

Family can deeply impact a child’s way of learning values. Learning always starts at home. Kids tend to lean on happy memories. If a family provides happy memories to a child, the learning experience also becomes more impactful.

Over time, the kids will grow into adulthood and carry with them the important values that help them maintain a good relationship with the people around them. This good relationship also spreads on to the community, providing a great societal impact.

Socializing

Family is a kid’s first social circle. As the kid grows and develops within the circle of family, the youngster learns the value of camaraderie and friendship. The parents may also expose the developing child to other individuals they can call friends, including other children and pets.

The impacts of family to a child’s socialization may also be strong, especially if the parents have good connections with individuals having good values and skills they can share with the child. Letting the child play is a good way to let them interact with other individuals other than family members. Face-to-face interactions allow a child to learn to socialize hands-on as compared to the digital way of meeting people behind the screens of phones and computers.

Comfort and Security

A family is a circle that provides the first comfort and security to a developing child. The parents are responsible to keep the child stay protected from outside factors. It is also important for the kids to know that they have people to go to for comfort whenever they need the warmth of family or friends.

The sense of security means that the child has all the basic needs as they grow. Responsible parents would work together to provide sustenance for their children. The impacts of family on a child’s development allow the learning of compassion and empathy.
