Poetry is a powerful form of self-expression that can convey emotions and ideas through just a few words. Poets can express beauty using just a few carefully chosen words. Beyond themes and forms, any poem has the power to change the world, and the most beautiful poem does not necessarily talk about a particular subject; it could be anything under the sun, and it is the poet’s task to translate a mere thing into a thing of delight. Keeping this in mind, this only means that every man can be a poet, for everywhere poetry exists.

“You can find poetry in your everyday life, your memory, in what people say on the bus, in the news, or just what’s in your heart.” — Carol Ann Duffy.

In today’s world, where meaning seems elusive, some people view poetry writing as a monumental task and have trouble writing one. The words of Carol Ann Duffy prove that when one finds it challenging to write a poem, anyone can begin looking at their heart, and the right words will flow. After all, poetry is an art – and like all other art forms, it has to be felt, and the artist has to be free in his expression. Such is the notion reflected by Raymond Quattlebaum’s works in his brilliant poetry book Poetry in Motion. It received ReadersMagnet’s grand prize for its RMazing Grand Bonanza Year 2 – Level 1 promo.

Destined to Write! Destined for Greatness!

Whether writers are born or made has been debated for a long time. When you add in the nature vs. nurture debate, the search for a definitive answer seems endless. Nonetheless, Quattlebaum is one individual who appears to be destined to become a great writer – one who crafts unique literary works that are as special as his last name.

Quattlebaum is an African American and the third oldest son in a family of five. He has always had a deep love for poetry, and even as a young child, he exhibited a great talent and passion for writing. In the third grade, Raymond wrote a poem for his teacher, Mrs. Albert, who loved his work. Quattlebaum’s words pierced his teacher’s heart, prompting her to share them in the school’s newspaper.

The experience brought Raymond immense joy, inspired him, and opened doors for greatness. As he grew older, the works of other poets moved him, especially the songs of the singing group Earth, Wind & Fire – the elements of life – whose songs inspired him to write even more poetry. Quattlebaum describes the band’s songs as spiritually divine, unbelievable, and beautiful.

Today, he puts all his inspiration and musings into his poetry book Poetry in Motion for the world to enjoy. He also encourages his readers to express themselves, and if they cannot do so verbally, then writing would suffice.

More Than Words: Poetry is Life!

Poetry captures the essence of human experience, allowing readers to explore their most profound emotions, from love to pain. It will enable us to reflect on our experiences and connect with others who may have gone through similar struggles.

In the words of Quattlebaum, poetry is life in motion – a vision for the world to see. For him, his book expresses life, the miracle of who we are, and life in the presence of God; this is what he refers to as poetry in motion! Poetry in Motion aims to immerse readers in the experience of life.

He says, “If a picture is worth a thousand words, what can you say for a mental visualization? Yes, life is a stage, and we all play a part, but what part do you play in the great scheme of life? As we know, to be a part, you must play a part in the great circle of life and beauty.”

Quattlebaum’s poems mirror positivity, God’s grace, and the power of perseverance over defeat – all of these make life’s magnificence. His poetic language is exceptional, with metaphors and symbolism that convey complex ideas.

Because we are all beautiful in our own unique way,

God’s beauty, forever beautiful.

We are all replicas of one infinite beautiful mind, a beautiful mind.

I must never let you go.
