Many know Christ by name, yet not everyone, including Christians, knows the meaning of Christ’s birth and its significance. Being the Son of God, the nativity of Jesus Christ is by no means an ordinary birth of an ordinary man. Multiple sources say that the birth of Jesus is the incarnation of God Himself – the very moment when God became a man. The essence of Christ’s birth is profound and everlasting, reflecting God’s love for humanity. After all, Christ is the greatest gift God the Father has given to us.

For the Jews, Jesus was the Messiah or the Son of God. In Judaism, Jesus is seen as a historical figure, not a divine or messianic. For over 2000 years, non-Jewish Christians have been trying to explain the meaning of Christ’s birth without exploring how and what it spoke to the Jewish people of the time.

In a recent interview with Kate Delaney on the syndicated radio program “America Tonight with Kate Delaney,” author Stephen S. Ahokas, DVM, sheds light on the meaning of the birth of Christ. He says God doesn’t write just words; He writes word pictures. The circumstances surrounding Christ’s birth were a sign to the Jewish people. The question now is, what were those circumstances?

With “America Tonight with Kate Delaney,” Stephen talked about his book ‘Twas Christmas to Passover: God’s Graphic Image of a Savior Who Would Die for His People – what inspired him to write it and what he hopes his readers will take away.

Exploring the Birth of Jesus Christ

The circumstances surrounding Christ’s birth served as a sign to the Jewish people that Jesus was born to be the Savior who would die for God’s people. However, few understood this sign at the time. For almost two thousand years, Gentile Christians have been proclaiming, “Worthy is the Lamb…” without fully grasping the significance of those words. As Stephen S. Ahokas explains in his book, the true meaning of Christ’s birth as the Lamb of God is not widely understood by either Jews or Gentiles. Furthermore, the lack of understanding among Gentiles regarding the essence of the Passover has contributed to a limited comprehension of the impact of His death as the Lamb of God.

‘Twas Christmas to Passover: God’s Graphic Image of a Savior Who Would Die for His People aims to clarify these concepts for Jews and Gentiles. The book explores the messages conveyed to the Jewish people through the circumstances of Christ’s birth and reveals how the details of His death fulfilled the essence of the Passover for all who place their faith in Him.

The Circumstances Surrounding Christ’s Birth

During the interview with Kate, Stephen discussed that the circumstances surrounding Christ’s birth are nothing until one understands what it infers about Christ. According to Stephen, people don’t know who it was that was born that day, which is something that he seeks to unveil.

“And I want people to fully understand now who it was that was born that day. Yeah. When you and I talked off the air, you were talking about the bridge, you know, the bridge, the Christmas and Passover, and that’s what we started with. And in talking about, you know, lamb selection days and Christianity and the Jewish faith and whatnot,” he said.

Stephen read a passage in his book to illustrate his point further. He also shared a heart-tugging moment with his father, who is a pastor. Stephen credited his father for introducing him to Jesus at a young age.

“I grew up, I was exposed to the things of God in his church and in his home, but I was also exposed to the things of the world and how the world tries to explain away the meaning of Christ’s birth and death,” he shared.
